AC&S, Inc is seeking a full-time Master Electrician to join our team in Nitro, WV. No travel required!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Hazardous Environments & Safety

  • Hazardous Area Classifications: Understanding the NEC guidelines for Class I, Division 1 and 2 areas.
  • NFPA 70E Compliance: Strict adherence to electrical safety and arc flash protection protocols.
  • LOTO (Lockout/Tagout): Expert application of plant-wide LOTO procedures to safely de-energize and isolate chemical processing equipment.

Process Control & Instrumentation

  • Automation Systems: Diagnostic proficiency of PLCs, DCS and SCADA networks.
  • Calibration: Capability to calibrate, loop check 4-20mA current loops, HART, plant instrumentation (e.g., pressure transmitters, flow meters, level gauges, thermocouples).
  • VFDs & Motor Controls: Troubleshooting and tuning VFDs, soft starters, and heavy-duty 480V motor control centers. Motor control expertise with across-the-line starters, soft starters, and complex control circuits.

Maintenance & Diagnostics

  • Preventative Maintenance: Conducting routine inspections and predictive testing on switchgear, transformers, and electrical distribution lines.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Demonstrated work history isolating faults in Process Controls and power circuits.
  • Blueprint Reading: The ability to accurately interpret P&IDs, ladder logic, and single-line electrical schematics.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and working in confined or elevated spaces, along with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform precise manual tasks. Work is conducted in an industrial chemical‑processing environment with exposure to noise, temperature changes, energized equipment, and NEC‑classified hazardous areas, requiring strict adherence to NFPA 70E, arc‑flash, and LOTO safety protocols; all duties are performed on‑site in Nitro, West Virginia with no travel required.

Qualifications and Experience

Journeyman or Master Electrician license is required, along with a minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on industrial or petrochemical experience.

Excellent problem-solving capabilities under pressure, the physical stamina to work in confined or elevated spaces, and the communication skills to collaborate with chemical operators and process engineers.
